Pedon

PEDON is the NEWSLETTER of the International Training Centre for Post-Graduate Soil Scientists (ITC-Ghent) at the Faculty of Sciences (Department of Geology) of Ghent University in Belgium. This International Training Centre started to organize an international course and training program in soil science in October 1963. This program in soil science, one of the oldest in Europe, originally received funds from UNESCO, but from 1985 financial support came from the Belgian Government.

It was on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the International Training Centre for Post-Graduate Soil Scientists in 1988, that many alumni expressed the wish to keep in touch with the Centre. Therefore it was decided to take some special initiatives to strengthen the ties with the alumni, such as the yearly publication of ‘PEDON’. The aim of the Newsletter PEDON is to keep the alumni abreast of the weal and woe of the Centre, its staff, its students and its alumni.
